Perhaps this is meant to be a young person's romance for ages 16-22? The story line is meant to convey that it is important we take chances in life - allowing for new experiences and people, often in the the most unexpected places and ways. But the story line belongs in the 1950s with girl needing boy to help her get over things, and boy treating girl as a very fragile person. We all need someone "there" for us, and who doesn't want to be cherished? So if you're looking for a unidimensional, non-plotted story line, with immature characters handling interpersonal relationships in a childish manner, this would be a good read. It is very poorly edited, if at all, with incongruent pronouns within a sentence or phrase, lack of punctuation, and deficient in grammatical structures. As for character development? There did not seem to be any. The primary character started off requiring "rescue" by everyone around her, and the story ends with her still being rescued by everyone else in the story.Tags : Taking Chances (Healing Hearts Book 1) - Kindle edition by Laura Farr. Taking Chances Healing Hearts Book 1 edition by Laura Farr Romance eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed the book immensely. Being from Oklahoma and spending so much time in Texas and with Texans is the only reason this gets a four stars rather than five. Well written and a lovely read.
4.5 stars.
I really enjoyed mason & Libby's story. This was a great books k about moving on & finding the right person. First book by this author. Will read more.
Wow this book from the beginning I was in tears! Libby lost her bestfriend in a horrible accident. Her parents think it's a good idea for her to go visit her aunt and uncle in Texas to get her out of her funk! Than she meets mason will he be the one to get her out of her comfort zone! When a ex comes back in masons life will Libby go back home? This book was amazing I loved reading it!
I really enjoyed this debut book. Libby has been struggling since losing her best friend in a tragic accident. She's wracked with guilt and she's kinda just going through the motions when it comes to living. Desperate and fed up of seeing a shell of their daughter, Libby's parents bring up the option of Libby going to stay with relatives in Texas.
I liked Libby. Her pain and guilt really come across and I couldn't help but sympathise with her. Finding her feet in Texas, she's starting to feel more like the old Libby. Of course sexy cowboy Mason helps put a smile on her face and he helps her start to heal.
Mason has a past. He's got a mystery about him. There's a determination in the way he cares for and helps Libby and he's really easy to like. The chemistry between him and Libby is instant and I was desperate for them both to move forward with their lives.
The secondary characters are also really likeable especially Libby's cousin Savannah. I'm already desperate for her story. This book has a little bit of everything and it flows really well. Definitely recommend this especially if you're looking for a no drama romance.
There are so many facets to this book - humor, sadness, sorrow, laughter and excitement. A totally good, enjoyable read.
The story is there and I liked it. I had to push passed what was a lot of grammatical or spelling issues. It happened enough to bither, but not enough to stop reading the story.
Poorly written, not terribly believable, silly dialogue, no character development. Needs better editor. I guess mentioning several times in the story that she reads her a lot will get you published.
